Welcome to another WIAW!
NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM.
That’s my stomach ALL DAY after a personal training session. I woke up at 5:15am yesterday, headed to the gym, and got a good beating first thing in the morning. It involved 100 back squats, high pull dead lifts, pull ups, push press, push ups, and mountain climbers. I. WAS. SWEATING.
Here was my early morning gym picture before I turned into a FOOD.MONSTER
I refueled with one of the best protein shakes I’ve ever had. It doesn’t look pretty, but it tastes amazing. Why is it that the best ones can never be the prettiest ones? No one can have it all, not even the smoothies.
BUT more importantly, here’s the recipe!
- 1 c. almond milk
- ½ c. frozen mango
- ½ c. frozen blueberries
- ½ c. frozen spinach
- 1 scoop Perfect Fit protein powder (vanilla)
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- ½ tsp. coconut extract
- Throw all the ingredients in a blender and blend away! Pour and enjoy :)
That’s right. You heard me. If I eat a protein shake at 7 or 7:30am, I am ready for second breakfast by 10am.
Finished this and let it settle for about 30 minutes, but I was STILL hungry.
When I don’t have oats for breakfast, they are my go-to afternoon snack. I don’t even heat them! I just put 1/2 c. quick oats in a tupperware in the morning with almond milk and whatever toppings I want, and by the afternoon they are delicious and creamy!
For dinner I threw together something really simple. First, I chopped up some onion and garlic with some coconut oil in a sauté pan. Next, I added some fresh kale and let it wilt a little bit, and then threw in some raw cauliflower, broccoli, and baby yellow summer squash. Last, I threw in some pre-roasted sweet potato and lots of yummy seasonings: ground mustard, cumin, smoked paprika, lemon juice, Bragg’s liquid aminos (soy sauce replacement), and a bit of salt and pepper. I sautéed the tofu in a mixture of Bragg’s, chili sauce, and stevia.
SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS!
Stats for the day?
90 grams protein
I’m a bit lower on protein than I usually like to be, but that’s because I’ve been replacing a decent amount of protein calories with SUMMER FRUIT! Maybe not the all time best choice for muscle gain, but sometimes you just have to enjoy the whole foods by the season :)
IT’S ALL ABOUT BALANCE, BABY.
